Spooky Fun for Middle Schoolers
It’s October! Which means Halloween is well on its way.
I just finished reading the book The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, famous author of Coraline. What a fun and chilling read this was! If you’re like me, then you can’t handle anything super scary. This book was the perfect combination of fun and just the right amount of creepiness.
This spine-tingling story is about a boy named Nobody Owens, more commonly known as Bod. From a first glance, you might assume that he is another normal boy. He is. However, there are some unusual facts about him. For one, he lives in a graveyard. He wasn’t born in the graveyard. Specific circumstances had led him to be adopted by the Owens couple and be granted ‘freedom of the graveyard’ which allowed him to see all of the graveyard’s occupants- living or not.
Bod’s adventures are different than in any other book. He encounters mysterious inhabitants and dangers whose only motive is to kill him.
I normally do not enjoy stories that are super creepy, but this is one my exceptions.
It kept me hooked all the way through with its fast-paced plot and mesmerizing characters.
If you are looking for your next book to read, choose this one! It’s a perfect read for this time of year.
