Christmas for the Baxters: A Baxter Family Christmas

Christmas for the Baxters: A Baxter Family Christmas

I love every single one of this author’s works. Several of her books have hit my shelves sometime or another, and I have not read a single one that I didn’t love. All of them are filled with sweet romance and heavy topics that she masterfully presents in a way that speaks to all readers alike.

The Baxter Family series consists of dozens of novels, each delightfully written about individual stories, but with characters that frequently appear in other works in the series. I have not read every single one in this collection of novels. Instead, I pick and choose whichever title looks interesting, since many of these novels can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.

I decided on A Baxter Family Christmas since we are in the midst of the holiday season and as always, Karen Kingsbury did not disappoint.

She whipped together a beautiful story of heartbreak, loss, and love, and masterfully crafted it all into the same book.

John Baxter, father and husband of many years, recently lost his daughter Erin in an accident. In the spirit of Christmas, he decided to invite the very woman who had received Erin’s heart to share the joy of the holidays with his own family.

Hoping his adult children and grandchildren wouldn’t take this news heavily, he shared it with them in the hope that they would also find joy in this moment.

Soon disappointed, he finds that many do not share his feelings and his daughter even considers spending Christmas day apart from her father to avoid meeting this woman.

Filled with hope, joy, and the peace only Jesus can bring, this family is swept up in a whirlwind of Christmas activity, even as the presence of Kendra threatens to separate them.

I would recommend this book to teens and adults of all ages. I love the masterful writing, and the emotional story brought me near to tears multiple times. A Baxter Family Christmas certainly deserves the gift of a new reader this Christmas.
