Fall in Love with a New Book this Valentines Day
Happy Valentines Day! 💕📖
If you’re like me, you’re always on the search for a good novel to get sucked into. Since it’s Valentines Day, I thought it would be fun to share a variety of my favorite romances for the YA-adult audience! What could be better?
All six of these are books that I highly recommend. From authors like Beverly Lewis to acclaimed fairy-tale retelling author Gail Carson Levine, they’re full of variety.
Someone Like You-
Someone LIke You by Karen Kingsbury is my all time favorite romance novel. Make sure to keep checking back- there’s going to be a full post featuring this book coming soon!
A touching story, we meet Maddie West who discovered from a stranger that she was adopted as an embryo. Her parents had always wanted to tell her, but the right time never seemed to arrive and now her parents are worried that the lie ruined their relationship with their daughter. Then she’s startled to learn yet another secret: She has a sister. Just like she’s always wanted. This book is from a faith-based perspective!
Trigger warnings- illness, death, grief, adoption.
Ever-
Ever is by far one of the most unique romances I have ever read. Gail Carson Levine never fails to impress me, and Ever did not disappoint.
As we all know, falling in love and finding ‘the one’ is never easy. Now, what if your days on earth were numbered, and you knew about it? That makes finding your romantic partner next to impossible. Kezi is in that exact situation. And no vows are ever meant to be broken.
Content/triggers- This book is a fantasy novel, and the story revolves around ‘gods’ but is completely clean. Other triggers include illness and death.
The Red Cottage-
A beautiful romantic story by Hannah Linder, you might remember my past post featuring this book!
Meg’s dream is to someday live with her true love Tom and someday build their own red cottage to live together happily. It sounds like a fairy tale, and for a while it seems like this fairy tale will come true.
Until Meg’s life falls to pieces after she is attacked. Then comes a race against time to discover who wants Meg dead. This book is also faith based!
Content/triggers- Sexual Assault, murder, arson, moderate violence.
The Heirloom-
Acclaimed author Beverly Lewis, author of The Shunning, writes a delightful, wholesome prequel.
A delightful Amish romance, we meet Clara Bender, whose father has just remarried. No longer needed in her father’s household, and not many eligible young men in the community, Clara travels to live with a far-away aunt.
I love this book for its sweet, slow-burning romance. You won’t regret reading this book!
Where Courage Calls-
By this time, you might have heard of the well-known Hallmark TV show When Calls the Heart starring Erin Krakow and Lori Loughlin, which is actually based off of this book! (I give the show five stars, by the way!)
You wouldn’t expect a young, wealthy woman, who has everything she could possibly want to move to a small Canadian town, which has just suffered a mining accident, to teach. However, that’s exactly what Beth Thatcher does. As she navigates life in a coal-mining town, two handsome young Mounties are thrown into the mix, and love might be in the cards for Beth. This is another Christian-romance!
Trigger/content warning- Death, grief.
Princess of the Midnight Ball-
Written by Jessica Day George, this is a lovely YA romance! If you’re a fairy-tale fanatic like me, you might notice that this is a retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses.
Rose is the oldest of the twelve princesses and is always surrounded by young men eagerly waiting to take her by the hand and lead her to the dance floor. Needless to say, her dancing card is always full. Her life is full of things like beautiful gowns and jewelry, although something more sinister is at work. All that’s left to show for it is the exhaustion of Rose and her sisters, and their ruined dance slippers.
They are not in their beds every night. They are being forced to repay something that they had had nothing to do with.
Content-triggers- Mild violence, mild language, mildly frightening imagery.
These are all delightful romances that I would recommend to both YA and adult audiences alike!
Pick up your next romantic read, this February. 💕📖
