Firstly, I want to thank the publisher! I was kindly provided with a review copy of this book, and they have been so sweet through the entire process of obtaining a copy of Santa and the Sled Dogs. A huge thank you to Globe Pequot publishing!
Happy December!
Thanksgiving is officially over, and the Christmas season has finally begun. Some people decorate for Christmas right after Halloween, and some even listen to Christmas music soon after! However, for our family, the Christmas season has only just begun, and with it comes my holiday readingāļøš
I love reading Christmas picture books throughout the holidays. They’re so festive, filled with bright colors, and have a cheerful vibe about them!
Written by Sarah Van Rijsewijk and beautifully illustrated by Hetty Easter, Santa and the Sled Dogs is one of my favorite holiday-themed picture books I have ever read.
Why? I love so many things about it. First? the story is brilliant! Santa’s reindeer are sick, and a family’s own pets get to save Christmas! What could be better?
My initial thought when opening the package was that the illustrations are gorgeous. Completed with full-page illustrations, each page I turned had another pop of color and I couldn’t stop myself from repeatedly closing the book and staring at the stunning cover.
The story starts when a man knocks at the door. A young girl has to trust in the magic of Christmas and have confidence that she has exactly what is needed to help Santa.
Blue crystals, holiday spirit, and the entire family come together to save the Holidays in this breathtaking book!
And… there’s dogs. Dogs help save the day. I love it.
This is the perfect family story for this season. It would make an exquisite read-aloud with everyone huddled around the fire, or a gift for that special child in your life. Even if they are not a big reader, any child would enjoy this wonderful story.
This book will help any family get into the holiday spirit and brighten up anyone’s day!
I’m going to give this book five out of five stars.
