Sorcerers, Magic, Romance!

Sorcerers, Magic, Romance!

Hello, everyone,

Some of you might remember back in August when I posted Ella Enchanted: A Story of Magic and Inspiration. Today I’m back with another book by the same author! While I adore Ella Enchanted, I’m even more passionate about the Two Princesses of Bamarre.

Gail Carson Levine has written so many unique and captivating stories, and I love each and every one of them. Yes, I have read almost every single one! However, the Two Princesses of Bamarre is by far my favorite.

If you’re a fantasy nerd, this book is for you!

If you’re like me, a hopeless romantic, then this book is also for you!

We also can’t leave out adventure fans. This book is perfect for you as well!

From the moment I read it as a young child, I fell in love with the characters. Years later, I still feel a deep connection to them. It’s strange how sometimes you read a book, and it feels as if you know the characters personally. This is definitely one of those situations.

If you’re a big reader, one of the things most appreciated in a well-written story is the character development. This is huge in this particular novel. Over the course of the story we get to meet two sisters young and vulnerable, and by the end of the tale, their family is forever changed and grown in unexpected ways.

Meryl and her younger sister Addie are complete opposites. Meryl strives for adventure and the feeling of freedom while Addie is content to stay at home embroidering. Often looking up to her older sister for support, Addie is perfectly happy where she’s at. Until her older sister falls ill.

Meryl, the one who was supposed to be stronger, the one who wanted to go out in the world on great adventures is suddenly deathly sick.

Addie, the shy, quiet one is soon put on the spot. She has two choices: Number one is to stay at home and lose her sister. Number two is to face all of her fears and venture out into the open world to find a cure.

Gryphons, ogres, and spectors were never on her list of strange creatures she wanted to meet. However, she is faced with no choice but to focus on her goal and save Meryl.

Full of shocking twists and turns, this book is going to keep you captivated from start to finish. You won’t be able to put it down- and maybe it would be a good idea to keep a box of tissues next to you because if I’m being honest- I needed them.

Content- mild kissing, terminal illness, death, grief.

I have a question for all of my Bookish Queen readers! If you could have dinner with any author in the world, past or present, who would it be and why?

(I would have to pick Louisa May Alcott who was the author of Little Women. Some might disagree but I highly think she is one of the world’s best authors we have seen and is a great example of someone who created characters that are authentic and relatable. Jo March has always been one of my best friends! Anyone relate?)

Comment down below who you would love to meet! I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Elena Rose! Thank you so much for all of your amazing reviews! Honestly, I think I would have to go with J. K. Rowling, being an avid Harry Potter fanatic. That would be a dream come true! But if she’s not available, (I bet her dinner schedule is probably a little hectic 😉 then I’d have to go with Kelly Barnhill, who wrote The Girl Who Drank the Moon. I bet that would be quite an interesting conversation, and I would probably talk her ear off about all of the little details that I’m obsessed with in that book!

I love both of those! Maybe I’ll have to do a post about one of Kelly Barnhill’s books soon. 💜
