Celebrate World Book Day: My Favorite Reads
Today is…
World Book Day!
I love that April 23rd is a day of celebration dedicated to books. How cool is that? World Book Day is significant to me because as a lover of reading, I believe that it is so important to recognize the beauty of books in society!
In honor of this, I decided to share three all-time favorite stories that I love: One classic, one autobiography, and one contemporary novel! All three of these books have stayed with me for years and I highly recommend. If you have not already read these, definitely place an order at your local library or purchase online immediately!
Little Women- Louisa May Alcott
For those who are not aware, Little Women is by far my favorite book of all time. It is one of the best books I have ever read, and I’m happy to say that I have put a lot of time into memorizing the entire first chapter!
Many people (especially in the reading community) have read this heartwarming story about the four sisters named Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, but if you haven’t, this should be at the top of your TBR. The story takes us through the beauty of growing up and crossing the line between the young children and teen years into adulthood.
I love this novel and have so many Little Women themed items currently surrounding me!
Soul Surfer- Bethany Hamilton
This autobiography is both inspirational and motivational telling the story of a young teenage surfer who was a shark attack victim in 2003. Bethany’s courage and faith while overcoming this massive setback is truly inspirational and I recommend it to both teens and adults alike.
Whether you are an athlete or not, this book is perfect. I have read my beloved copy dozens of times and have even been blessed with the opportunity to meet Bethany Hamilton on two separate occasions!
Dana’s Valley- Janette Oke
Keep a box of tissues next to your side while reading this book. you are going to need them.
No matter how many times I read Dana’s Valley, I still cry every single time. It is the story of a family facing one of the biggest trials of their lives and still trying to find the joy in the coming days. Erin, Corey, Brett, and sweet Dana- are four siblings navigating hardship each in their own way.
This heartwarming story is sure to bring tears to your eyes, and then soft smiles and laughter through the tears. When you finish it, I guarantee it will stay with you forever.
Well, happy World Book Day! What are some of your favorites? I want to know!
