Doc O’Brien Meets His Match: A Historical Romance Review
Thank you to Diana Reyes for this book!
Doc O’Brien Meets His Match was an interesting historical romance to read. While I ended up enjoying it thoroughly, in the beginning I found it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. However, as the story progressed, I found it easier and easier to keep track of what was going on in the novel.
I did find the main character extremely likeable. Who doesn’t love a strong, independent, female protagonist? Maggie Sinclair’s goal was to prove that a woman could do more than what society wanted her to do. Since women were forced to fit inside a small brown paper box, she wanted to be the one outside the box.
Yet when unexpected circumstances arise, she finds herself forced into a situation where unwanted feelings and hesitations are thrown at her.
The themes of medicine and healthcare interwoven into the plot was another unique element and one that I enjoyed. Medicine practices were part of the romance story in a way that made it more interesting to read!
The characters and plot were highly enjoyable, yet I just wish the beginning had moved even just slightly faster. But in the end, I loved it!
